My parents instilled in me the belief that I was more than just an athlete. From the moment they discovered my passion for basketball, they encouraged a well-rounded approach to life. While I dedicated countless hours to the sport, playing for my school, AAU teams, and eventually coaching youth camps, I also cultivated other interests.
Though honored to have been offered basketball scholarships, I ultimately decided to follow my heart and pursue a career off the court, but still in the sports industry.
During my freshman year at High Point University (2023-2024), I had the privilege of being the Color Commentator for three Division I Basketball games; including a 2024 Big South Girls Basketball Tournament game.
As an extrovert, I am always looking for ways to meet new people, share positive vibes, and get to learn more about them. I understand that I will have a LOT of freedom and influences at college and it will be up to me to manage both well. With the right circle around me, that freedom and influence are motivators to push me into my future success and gain a lifetime of friendship.
I aspire to become a sports broadcaster and a creator of documentaries to share the life experiences of athletes. I have a particular interest in shedding a light on the mental health of athletes. As a high school varsity athlete who overcame depression and anxiety, often, I did not feel like I had a safe space to discuss the emotional toil that I was experiencing. Thankfully I had a strong support system and was able to utilize resources that aided me mentally to become a healthy athlete and gritty young man I am today.
